I've heard various reports of 760ED's locking up after several hours
of operation. This sounds to me like a *separate* problem from the
DIMM adapter sometimes not working when both slots are filled. The
lockups seem to be caused by overheating, and the newest 760ED's (with
the XGA screen) apparently have some kind of special thermal patch on
the bottom, possibly to deal with this problem.
I'm really uncomfortable with the heat level of every recent
laptop I've used. I am really skeptical of their long term
reliability because of how hot they get. I'm typing this
on a 10+ year old Toshiba T1000SE with a 9.54 mhz 80c86.
It seems completely unlikely that my 755cx will last that long.
