I too have a 755C and ran into that when I first installed '95. After
a lot of tinkering, asking, and trying things, the culprits turned out
to be the PCMCIA cards - both of them. I have a 3Com Ethernet card for
when I'm in the office and had at the time a USR Sportster modem card.
If I removed both cards, the machine suspended just like it did under
W'3.1.
After updating the drivers to both cards to the latest off the web, I
can now suspend 95% of the time without a problem. After closing the
cover it does sometimes take 2 or 3 "cycles" of the suspend function
before the machine actually suspends cleanly. (Leaving the cover
closed forces the suspend stuff to keep trying.)
My biggest remaining complaint is that after resuming I have to remove
and hot-plug the modem card about 50% of the time to get W'95 to recognize
that the slot isn't empty...
