Disclaimer:  I've never actively worked on Win95 or WinNT.
Claimer:  I read a lot (too many trade mags)

It was quite embarrasing earlier this year for Microsoft when they had
to admit that because of the registry differences between NT 4.0 and
Win95, there is no good way to upgrade from Win95 to NT 4.0.  Yes, you
*can* upgrade, but everthing has to be re-installed!  A lot of people
who had not upgraded to Win95 were saying, "Boy, are *we* glad we
didn't upgrade" after getting the news.

This is *supposed* to be fixed in NT 5.0 which will probably be out
completely in 1998.
