Mine forgot its password once after getting an 8614 or something similiar 
code on startup.  The error code refers to CMOS.  Also the system 
time screen came up for me to set the clock.  After I restarted the machine 
the error went away BUT my password was screwed up.
When I sent it to IBM they replaced the CMOS battery.  They did it free 
of charge.

Did you get an error code recently?
