OK,
I have seen a few mail notes about what a nightmare it is to configure the
Ethernet*Modem combo cards from Megahertz in a Windows 3.1/DOS environment.
I can now feel your pain. I have found that non-ESS systems (ie-750, 360,
755CX) are a snap to set up. Set the LAN irq to 5 and away it goes.
However, all of the systems that use the ESS sound have irq 5 locked, and
that is the problem. I was reading through the documentation, and it states
that BOTH the LAN and Modem irq's must be below 8 or above (???), and that
is the source of the problem. Has anyone had any sucess in setting up the
combo cards on a 365X, or a 760EL? I am still messing around with the
IRQ's, but haven't gotten it working yet. Has anyone summarized what they
did to get it working?
If I can figure it out, I will post a How-To on it.

ps- Windows 95 has the settings of 5 for the ESS irq, and 15 for the LAN
irq. Hmmmm......
