  It is easier to cleanly multiply a pixel by 2 in each direction 
[320x200 to 640x400] than it is to multiply by odd numbers.  What 
the heck do you do with the "fractional" pixels when multiplying by 2.5 
times in each direction [320x200 ->800x600] or 1.25 times 
[640x480->800x600]?  Do you enlarge some pixels more than others?  CRT's 
don't really care too much about things like this, but an LCD with its 
precise and fixed pixels make it much more apparent.  Though perhaps not 
quite so much in action games.

  Now going from 320x240 to 1280x960 would be pretty clean.  Though 4x4 
pixels would be rather chunky..  =)
