I recently purchased an TP760ED (2.1 gb disk drive w/CD-ROM). This is
my second TP, the first being a 750C. I have been very happy with TP
and IBM service, as evident by my new purchase.
Even though I am happy with the new TP to date, there are three annoying
problems, the major being an intermittent screen flickering problem. I
have been trying to determine under what conditions this slight
flickering takes place, and it is just enough at times to be annoying.
It appears to more frequently incur when the TP is connected to the AC
and the battery is recharging. It happens less frequently when the
power is supplied by battery only, and I believe, less frequently when
the battery is completely charged and the TP is connected to AC. Again,
is intermittent.
The other problem is that I find that the keyboard requires more
“effort” - it is a little harder than the 750C. Sometimes, I do not
press hard enough to register the key stroke.
Finally, the machine does run hot. IBM sent me a fax addressing the
issues, including updating the BIOS, MPEG drivers, and PMCIA code (all
of which I have not yet attempted). For PC cards that generate a lot of
heat, the recommend using the upper PC card slot. The fax document
number is 12404, and I believe that the FaxBack number is 800-426-3395.
Has anyone else noticed the first two problems? Any additional
information would be appreciated.
