Microsoft Windows 95 on IBM ThinkPad Systems
============================================
Version 2.12 February 27th, 1996

8.2. Known limitations with Windows 95 (on a 701)
--------------------------------------

o Auto suspend not working when docked
If you dock the ThinkPad 701, the auto suspend timer doesn't
work due to a Adapter SCSI driver problem in Windows 95.

  o PCMCIA power management limitations
Windows 95 doesn't turn off PC cards before suspend. This would
cause shorter suspend time due to power drain. To turn off PC
cards during suspend, do one of the following.
    - With ThinkPad 701C System Disk version 3M:
Press Fn+F11 followed immediately by Fn+Enter to set a flag
forcing BIOS to suspend the PCMCIA even if there is a powered
card in the slot (with PCMCIA power setting = Auto in
Configuration Utility). This should work for modem cards.
    - Use IBM PC Card Director PCMCIA software

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
I tried this routine then put the laptop into suspend using Fn+F4. Battery
consumption still high. I have not tried it with the Start menu, Suspend.
I'm running 3O bios not 3M. I wonder if they took it out in the later
revisions?
