MWAVE under Linux

I have a TP755CD too, and have had unprintable problems with the MWAVE.
In fact I've had trouble with it even under DOS and Windows 3.1, not just
Linux.

To a limited extent, I can use the MWAVE's SoundBlaster emulation under
Linux, and can play CD's under Linux too. The trick is to boot up Linux
with LOADLIN rather than LILO, after loading the MWAVE drivers under DOS.
Using the DOS command `MWGAMES ON CD' before booting up Linux does the
trick.

Unfortunately MWGAMES.BAT doesn't support the options I'd like it to.
`MWGAMES ON CD' makes the MWAVE emulate a SoundBlaster (not an SBPro).
You can type `MWGAMES ON PRO' to make it emulate a SBPro, but that kills
any chance of playing CD's. The SBPro emulation doesn't support CD input,
apparently.

It's even worse than that. I can't play MIDI files under Linux. Linux
thinks the MWAVE emulation includes an FM synth (at 0x388, where it should
be), but the synth really isn't there. Or at least it isn't functioning.
Is it possible that I should be typing `MWGAMES ON SAMPLES', to load the
synth with instrument sounds from ROM? That's what the informational
messages in MWGAMES.BAT seem to imply. But when I do that under DOS, I get
an error message I can't interpret.

If anyone has had any more success using the MWAVE SB emulation under
Linux than I have, by all means let me know.
