HD choice (part 3)
My apologies for continuing this thread. Hopefully it will be useful
for other members of this list. In the mean time, my thanks to those who
have provided information.
The best price I've been quoted for a replacement for my TP750C HD is
an IBM 1.2GB for $339. The company (Bason Computers, 1-800-400-9064),
however, did not give me complete assurance that this drive will work
with my machine. They provided me with the model number (DPRA-21215)
and told me to ask IBM. IBM in turn has a nice web page with all the
specs (http://www.storage.ibm.com/techsup/hddtech/dpra/dpratek.htm),
but when I called them, they were unable to say whether the drive
would or would not work with the TP750!!! IBM... Since this Thinkpad
has been discontinued, they have very little information on the machine!
No comments... What I would appreciate from those more "technical-minded"
in this list is their opinion regarding the possibility of installing
this drive (IBM DPRA-21215, 1.2GB) on my old and trusted TP750C...
Additionally, if those who have successfully upgraded their original HD
are willing to share their experiences, I'm willing to compile a
comprehensive summary to be added to the FAQ.
As usual, many thanks to all those who spend their time sharing precious
information - it's what keeps this list so useful, after all, isn't it?...
Regards from NY,
