non-ibm hard drives in Thinkpad

I just found out that the hard drive I received from Kahlon is
a Toshiba in an IBM case. This is the likely reason for
subsequent problems with the suspend, hibernation modes. A
technician at Simple Technology which makes such drives told me
that this is a well-known problem which occurs with some
thinkpads. He said it was not model-specific (mine's a 355) or
drive-specific which doesn't sound completely convincing.
Apparently most of the companies selling in PC Magazine or
Computer Shopper are dealing in non-Thinkpad drives and may
result in this problem.

Does anyone know of a company which sells IBM drives
for a reasonable price? Micro Mall sells a Quantum drive in an
IBM case -- is that more IBM compatible? Any input on this
problem, experiences with it would be helpful to me.
Fortunately, Kahlon will allow me to send mine back for a
refund within 30 days. Right now I'm leaning towards sending it
back since susp/hibernate are fairly important functions
although I'm not sure if they're worth the rather pricey IBM
drives.
