Both my girlfriend and I are running Linux on our 701C's, and neither of us have any problems with hibernate mode; the only thing that I can think of is that it might get confused if you're not using loadlin. I was unable to get Linux to even run WITHOUT loadlin, so I don't know what would happen if I didn't use it, but I'd bet some things wouldn't initialize right if you went straight into Linux. Give it a shot if you're not using it; it's pretty easy to install. Ken
