Is this a 760 hard drive?

I purchased a hard drive ($335) from Bason corp. and a case ($50)
from PS Solutions recently. I believe the drive may be a thinkpad 760

** 1.2 gig (DPRA 21215, p/n 85G3669, FRU p/n 39H2214 **

were listed on the drive itself) and the case is to fit a
360/750/755. These were fitted, successfully, into a Thinkpad
355. I *had been* convinced that the 760 wouldn't work in the
355 because it has a different master-slave select and uses a
PCI bus as opposed to the older ISA. But a technician at PS
Solutions convinced me that these things do not matter when
going from newer to older -- although the reverse is not the case
(i.e. you would have trouble fitting a 755 hd into a 760 if I
understand her correctly).

3 Questions:

1. Can any 760 owners confirm that the model no. and p/n(s) above
match their 1.2 g hard drives. I know of one person who was
trying to sell his 1.2 after he upgraded to 2.1 and so this would be of
interest to you (to the tune of around $300). I didn't purchase his because
I was convincedit wouldn't work and only bought the one from Bason
because their staff was either unwilling or unable to look up the part
no. for me which is printed, of course, right on an ibm drive (they didn't
know, for example, the standard ##L#### sequence of IBM parts).

2. Does it sound right that the different master-slave id and
bus architecture do not matter when using a 760 hard drive in a
355 machine? Or will I encounter some as-yet-unknown problem
down the road?

3. Has anyone dealt with the Bason company before. I am sorry
to say that the few individuals from that company with whom I spoke
did not sound terribly competent, although I dealt mostly with sales
people. PC Solutions, by contrast, seemed to have very knowledge-
able personnel. But is Bason a company I can trust? They advertise
in major mags, like PC Magazine and Computer Shopper.

Thanks.
