Solaris for x86 ROCKS! Though a bit more hardware demanding, I feel it is
more stable and reliable than Linux. My experience was with RedHat 3.0 on
my desktop. and it just wans;t stable. Solaris has been a dream. Currently
it is 'certified' to run on 750/760's. I wish they would figure out how to
get it to run on 701's, but I dream on.
Sun is not really backeards compatible, you have to have the hardware they
have ported and tested on, unlike linux where people get to work on their
machines.
If you want more info on x86, go to www.eis.com, www.sun.com or do a search
on solaris x86. feel free to contact me as well.
