IBM's Simply Speaking is for speech recognition. Don't get that confused with voice recognition, which is a totally different thing. A P90 with 16MB is a little underpowered. It's really more a dictation thing because your words must be spoken distinctly with a slight pause between each word. They spec the software at being able to go at 70-100 wpm. So imagine yourself talking at about one or two words a second, max. DON'T expect to be able to capture casual or normal conversation,lectures,etc. But the IBM stuff is pretty good out of the box, and gets much better after a little training and over time as it learns the speaker's and environmental acoustic nuances. It's neat to play with, but frankly, i'd give the technology a few more years to mature. Voice navigation (e.g. in Warp 4) works very well too.
