Paul,

I'll make a strong recommendation for MR/2 ICE. Check it out at
http://nick.secant.com/mr2ice.htm

MR/2 ICE was recently voted the best E-Mail client in OS/2 eZine Readers'
Choice Awards. It is shareware and only $30, yet it includes a spell
checker, thesaurus and all the bells and whistles you might expect. There
are even free conversion routines available on the web site so you can
import your existing UltiMail messages and phone book, and try it all out
before you pay anything.

Oh yes, I think Nick has a utility with the program that will archive
[compress] folders of mail. They are still usable, they just take up less
space. I haven't tried this feature as space isn't too much of a problem
for me, but I haven't heard any complaints about it either. The program is
updated frequently, get the current version which is 1.26.

In my opinion, the best reason to try this product is the support you get
from the author, Nick Night. He runs a mailing list for the product which
is subscribed to by many enthusiastic supporters. If one of them can't
solve your problem Nick will, and usually *very* quickly. As an example, I
once had an attachment that was slightly messed up and I couldn't unencode
it. I needed it badly so I emailed it to Nick, he fixed it and sent it
back to me in less than 30 minutes. Now I don't *expect* that kind of
service but many will tell you that he often provides it.

To be fair, the programs others have mentioned are fine too. OS/2 users
are definitely not lacking for good email programs. Good luck, which ever
one you choose.
