Have they dropped the IBM 586 brand? They were badging those as part of the
deal for fabbing the cyrex chips.

Yup.  Someone said the question is moot thanks to Linux.  Not to disparage
any inherent qualities of Linux, but I would like a laptop that runs the
software with which I make my living.  It's available on PPC running  AIX,
but not Linux.
