Hello to the list...
I have a couple of clients with several 755 and 760 ThinkPads on a Windows
95 network using an Iomega Ditto 3200 and their software. The machine that
I'm using as the backup machine is a 755 using the parallel/printer port.
I encounter no problems backing up the 755s.
I have trouble backing up the 760's. It doesn't matter whether I try to back
them up over the network or off the network. The job starts OK but then at
some point in time...could be at 10%, 45%, or 95% completion the backup
software starts giving a error message about not being able to process
files. After numerous error messages of this type, my clients 760 machine
locks up and they have to reboot.
I have tried scandisk, defrag, the latest version of the software, etc.
Of course, I've phoned Iomega's tech support a couple of times but without
success at resolving the problem. They are now saying there must be some
incompatibility. IBM tech support, also, has not been able to help.
So I now turn to the list. I hope there is someone who has been through this
before.
What is everyone else using in a network environment?
Appreciate all responses. I'm willing to try other products at this point.
As long as I can backup my client's machines.
Thanks in advance
Hugh
