That's an unfortunate guess - with the APM package installed, i can
suspend and hibernate my thinkpad from both linux and windows 95.

Hanno's problem may be that he needs to have a DOS partition, probably
c:, in which the thinkpad can put the hibernate file.  The file is
slightly larger than the amount of RAM in the thinkpad, so the partition
needs to at least that big... 

(Incidentally, regarding the coexistence of NT and linux - i recently
set them + win95 up on my PC, using NT's bootloader to select between.

I used the 'dd' method to create the linux boot sector for the NT loader
- the bootpart-based method didn't work for me.)
