Re: TP701 / TP560

I just replaced a TFT 701 with a DSTN 560P133, so I can give you a
partial answer:

> - how do the DS LCD's compare

The 560 DSTN is acceptably good - bad on motion (like all DSTN
screens), but decent for static stuff. Probably better than the 701CS
screen, definitely inferior to the 701C TFT screen (less bright, less
contrast, less color depth)

> - do the keyboards feel pretty much the same or what

Very different feel (though layout is almost identical). The 701 is
quite a lot stiffer, has deeper stroke, and seems larger to me (the
function keys are measurably larger, the others seem larger to me
though Randy Whittle took me to task for saying this elsewhere).

At least one peripheral that *didn't* work on my 701 (the IBM
"International" PCMCIA modem) works well on the 560.

You have to Hibernate to swap batteries on the 560, but this isn't so
bad since it hibernation only takes 10-15 seconds.

Sound is better on the 701.
