I'm going to call international warranty registration to
get certified for support tomorrow; but, in the interim,
I am curious about whether anyone has observed a strange
symptom on their Thinkpad 760 series system. I have the
TP760CD, 24MB, 1.2GB, 12.1" TFT system with a hard drive
labeled externally as ASM P/N 29H8928 -- FRU P/N 29H9228
-- and labeled internally as an IBM-DPRA-21215.
What is really strange is that the hard drive ICON on the
LCD status panel does not light when the drive is in use.
Generally the drive seems to be performing OK. But, even
after system BIOS update to current revision the drive is
still not indicated on the LCD status panel. I think the
solution may be to do a low level format using IBM's diag
diskette (maintenance diskette); but, I'd rather avoid it
as this would mean having to rebuild my system software.
Does anyone else have a clue what is wrong?
