Home network

Ok, I've put T connectors and terminators at both ends of the cable, but my
notebooks won't communicate. As I mentioned previously, I originally used
both PCMCIA network cards to connect to the office network using twisted
paired cables, both cards can be used with coax as well. Do I need to
change cards' drivers to use twisted pair at the office and coax at home?
I case you are wondering the PCMCIA card I have are 3COM and Megahertz.

Thank you in advance for your responses.
