(sorry it's so long)
Just got my TP701CS couple weeks ago.. Have already installed WIN95, left
DOS in place and am using System Commander to select between plain no
frills DOS (need it for work specific DOS software) and full blown WIN 95.
Well I removed OS2 & most of the Pre-Loaded wing-dings, I no longer have
WIN 3.1 (which is OK, I guess)... My questions are as follows, for a basic
DOS setup, what are the proper drivers & settings for the
CONFIG.SYS/AUTOEXEC.BAT files? As I have them, they seem to work fine, but
I know somethings amiss (and I need more 'free memory') , mainly in PCMCIA
area, I'm not sure what are the REQUIRED drivers for PCMCIA support.
I upgraded the System BIOS for WIN95 already and as stated WIN95 is
working, but I am unsure for the 701CS what the Optimum/Proper settings
are... I have a problem right now with my Multi-Port II, IRDA, MODEM & Comm
Port going haywire with Conflicts, what are the best settings for the
701CS's BIOS/Config for the Serial/Modem Ports?
Ideally I want to have my Multi-Port II's CommPort as COM 1, since I do a
lot of interfacing with equipment and some of it only works with a setting
for Comm 1, WIN 95 likes my modem on Comm 1, but I can setup the Modem for
Comm2, it will work but, then WIN 95 show me having 2 Modems (TP701
Internal Modem #1 & #2)... Also I downloaded the IRDA drivers from
Microsoft (per "Craig's Butterfly Page"), I'm not sure how the IRDA should
be setup. I don't have an immediate need for the IRDA but plan in the near
future to transfer files between my palmtop & 701 this way (neet-O!). I
want to get Direct Cable connection to work with my desktop but can't seem
to get the 2 to communicate, any better ways of doing this?
Also, what is THE BEST sound recoredr/player software for the TP701CS?
And I would like to utilize the Full Duplex SpeakerPhone capabilities like
those that came pre-loaded with WIN3.1, so again what is THE BEST
FAX/VoiceMAIL/SpeakerPhone sofwtare?
Next Question... IS there an xternal CD-ROM available for the TP701CS, that
plugs in where the Floppy normally would or is my only option getting a
PCMCIA CD-ROM?
Any Answers/Comments/Suggestions, are GREATLY appreciated...
