The drive I was looking at is a Toshiba (I think that there is only
one Toshiba 2.1gb slimline).  It's a *lot* less expensive than the
IBM.  A clueless sounding tech person at IBM claimed that it would not
work properly in the TP, which didn't make sense to me.

Do you know the address?  I haven't been able to find diagrams on the
