Marc, We perform the upgrade on the TP701 systems. For us there has been no overheating or software conflicts. As for the IBM warranty, you will lose that and there is no getting around it. The TP701 can be upgraded to the AMD 5X86/100mhz processor which is the response equivalent of the Pentium 75, it is as fast.
