Have you used FDISK to set the C partition to Active?

Subject: thinkpad software re-install

I've just had to format my hard-drive to get rid of a lot of problems in win95. The problem is that now the machine
will not boot of the hard-drive. I've tried format c: /s, and the system files are transferred correctly. But when I reboot
the machine all I get after the password is a flashing _ character. If I go into bios and make the floppy drive the primary
boot device then the machine boots from the a: drive ok and you can switch to the c: and look at the contents ok.
Is there a special utility I have to use to get the machine to recognise the hard-drive as a bootable device. When the
bios is set to look at the hard drive it goes straight to the flashing _ thing without the hd icon on the lcd ever coming on.
I've tried dos 6.2 as well as fat16 and fat32 versions of win95b and all exhibit the same problem.
Any help greatly appreciated
