$491! Yikes! Did you know that the little port under the rubber cover on
the left side is for both a floppy drive doubles as a parallel port as
well? You'd need to get the cord that came with the machine. Hopefully it
wouldn't be so much. You can pick up a serial pcmcia card for as little as
$80. The other ports on the multi-port are duplicates of the power input,
line in/out duplicates, as well as a vga out and pair of mouse and keyboard
ports for external versions. 

So it seems to me you can most of the functionality for something less than
buying the plastic piece from IBM.
