UGH! EZSERVE Again!
I got my 560 in April. IBM sent it to me 'cuz they love me so much :) A
week later, I make the system disks only to find out that when I reformat
and partition my HD, the CAB files on the first disk are bad, so the
machine goes back for reload of preload (I didn't mean that to rhyme).
After it gets back, I do the electronic registration thing on the floppy
disk which I though was kinda cute.
A few weeks ago, the mouse starts to misbehave. I get error codes on boot,
but it still works. I call for service. They send me a box. I blow it
off for a while because I need the machine. In the meantime, the display
is annoying, if it were a television it looks the color and v-hold are way
off. The same day the left mouse button falls out (Randy I think you
jinxed the left mouse button). I look and the prongs look ok, so I try to
snap it back in, no luck. I send the machine back. I get a call last
Friday (a week ago) afternoon that they need verification of ownership to
make sure my machine is under warantee. For some reason they cannot find
record of me in the database. I explain that the machine was sent from IBM
in April and the rep says she understands. In fact I tell her, its been
sent back already for service. No problem she says.
I get a phone call last Thurs. that EZSERV has my estimate to replace the
LCD screen and the keyboard. I laugh and again tell this rep what's going
on. He tells me that he cant do anything until I provide him proof of
ownership/purchase date. I then finally call Customer Relations. Five
minutes later I get a call back saying everything is taken care of and my
machine will be home soon.
Then the UPS strike. Somehow my baby made it here on time and safe. Whew!
New keyboard and LCD. And I only just now seemed to break in my kdb. At
least they sent a new trackpoint cap.
