What the hell did they send you ?? ;-}
The part number you want :
85G6704 aka FRU (field replaceable unit) 85G6705
It came with my 760E
2.4" * 1.0" * 3.9"
Has two cords one a skinny 6-7' foot with a 750 ,755,360,760,etc.....
connector (4pin) on it. This cord is attached to the power supply.
The other one ...the AC one is a 2 prong ,3feet long quite small and standard.
It plugs into the power supply ....and the wall.
Same type is used by Toshibas ( I think; ...don't have one in front of me right now) and
MANY other devices. This cord is NOT keyed at either end.
Do a COMPUTER ESP search :
   http://www.uvision.com/
Price should be $47 ??
But if you do a search you get:
85G7611 worldwide 35 watt ac adapter slim
http://www.uvision.com/prdct/022/91.html
: ACMade by:IBM Personal Software Products Mfr Part#:85G6711
 <Picture>Lowest Price: $44.08
Ship Weight:1.22 lbs

TRY ibm parts:
http://direct.boulder.ibm.com/us/parts/thinkpad/tpad760e.htm
this shows mine as 85G6705 (field replacement part ) $81.50
and a 85G67501 EMEA/AP type $49 Hmmmmmm???
1-800-765-5944 shipping is free.

Hope I helped ;-}

Subject: ac cord of 760 adapter

Well, I'd like to thank the people who responded to my post
looking for a 760-style AC adapter for my 755cx. I managed to get
one from Insight Direct. I have mixed impressions of Insight
service but they did get the thing here. It's a slim adapter,
P/n 12J1447 FRU P/N 12J1448. It says in the instruction booklet
that it works with various models of 760 but doesn't list the
755cx; however the salesperson said it supported the 755 series
and in fact I'm using it and it works. What I'm wondering is
about the AC cord, which is a flat, fairly thick 3-wire cord
with a weird 3-pin connector (*not* a standard IEC cord) that
plugs into the pack. This cord is kind of bulky and partly
defeats the purpose of a compact adapter. I had kind of
remembered seeing a 2-conductor cord on my friend's 365xd
adapter, which otherwise looks similar. Was I imagining
things? Do any of those adapters use a 2-conductor cord?
This adapter in any case is a pretty big improvement over what
I used to have...

Thanks again
Paul
