I've used the IR port on my 560 to communicate with my HP 200LX (file
transfers). Problem? Too blasted slow. Inevitably, I prefer to hook up
by cable.
But then again I'm not fond of parallel connections either--I have a small
ethernet setup that I hook into and transfer files lickety-split.
