Infrared Ports for file transfers

>Has anyone any experience with using infrared ports to copy large files to

I tried this when Adaptec first came out with their add-on IR, and
was very disappointed. I was never able to get better than 56Kb
between my desktop and a 701C. Even that was iffy for large
files. I could do better Thinkpad <-> Thinkpad, but to the desktop
115Kb was a distant dream. 30MB file copies were an overnight
operation (when they worked). This was one of the most unsatisfactory
computer hardware purchases I ever made.

If you're doing a lot of this, you'll probably be happier getting
something like a ZIP drive (I've been quite satisfied with the speed
of SCSI-based ZIP drive for things like this) or investing in an
Ethernet.
