Outlook97 has a "journal" function, which can monitor the use of other
Office97 apps, or even e-mail sent and received. It does slow down Word a
bit, though I haven't noticed it too much. And I find it useful for
backtracking what I have done, and when I did it. You can turn it on or off
via a dialog box in the Tool/Options settings.
