I have been using a parallel port Zip drive with my IBM ThinkPad 760CD
for nearly a year now with relatively few problems (except major
headaches initially since I used to run a scanner and a printer off
the same port as well). It isn't very 'portable' though (the a.c.
adaptor is huge).
I have just placed an order for a new Notebook Zip drive ('ThinkPad
Zip') which has been customised by VST Technologies specifically for
use in ThinkPad 760's Ultrabay. It may be a while before I get the
delivery of the product, I suspect, since Iomega just announced the
release of their Notebook Zip drives a few weeks ago. When that time
comes, I plan to get rid of the paralle Zip altogether.
Should I anticipate any problems? Would I need to uninstall the
parallel Zip drive (and all its associated software) before setting up
the new ThinkPad Zip drive? If so, how do I go about this? Anyone had
experiences with this drive?
Any comments would be most welcomed and appreciated.
