Regarding ruggedness of the x-jack connector, I can personally attest to
it, though it's embarrasing... my 750c was pulled off a desk (won't say
whose) by means of a foot (won't say whose) catching on the phone cord
attached to the modem. Both the modem and the rest of the computer still
play just fine.
..couldn't believe it.
