This is the normal behaviour in the ThinkPad 3xx line; IBM uses a less
expensive (and less useful) battery level monitoring scheme in this series
that only provides 4 discrete levels 0%, 20%, 80% and 100%.
Now, for the ThinkPad 360/750/755 series, it was the battery itself that
determined whether you saw the fixed 0-20-80-100 levels, or the full
0-100 range. Hence you could get the full range on a 360 by installing
a battery from a 750/755 machine.
I do not know if this applies to the 365 models, however.

Yes, this is also normal. This should be mentioned in your manual. It is
the trackpoint recalibrating itself. When it occurs, don't use the
trackpoint until it stops moving (should be only a few seconds). If you try
to use it during the recalibration, it might confuse that calibration
round, and you could get more drifting until the next recalibration occurs.
