Re: ECP on 560




ECP uses a DMA channel and some external parallel-to-CD (Backpack) or
parallel-to-SCSI (Trantor) adapter drivers don't work with it. EPP is fine
with them (although EPP isn't an option on the 560 :-(
Many printer drivers (notably HP) have enhanced reporting capabilities with
bidirectional ports (vs SPP).

How is bi-directional safer?  More compatible with peripherals?  Less
likely to provoke system crashes?  Something else?

I'm using win95, btw.
