I was in this situation a couple of weeks ago. You don't mention
which standard you need (K56Flex or X2), but as my ISP uses both I had
free range. The only 56k modems I found under $200 were the off-brands
using K56Flex - mostly I saw Eiger Labs and SimpleTech modems, with
the Eiger throwing in a free Ethernet card for about $180USD total.
For quality modems, I like the Xjack models from USR/3Com/Megahertz
and settled on the XJ1560. If I wouldn't have minded a dongle-based
modem, I'd probably have gone with the TDK or Practical Peripherals
modems, both of which I've had good luck with.
