	New XSuSE_Trident and XSuSE_NVidia servers available
	====================================================

S.u.S.E. GmbH is proud to release two updates to our small series of
XSuSE X servers. Both are significant new releases that many have been
waiting for.

XSuSE_Trident now for the first time offers (still non-accelerated) support
for the Trident Cyber 9397 chipset as found in the IBM Thinkpad. Additionally
support for the 3DImage975 and 3DImage985 has been added as well.

This server should work fine on the Thinkpad 770 model 9549 (14.1" TFT),
there have been some reports of problems on the model 9548 (13.3' TFT)
that we are investigating.

Our special thanks goes to Alan Hourihane and the testers at XFree86 for the
great work on this server.

Furthermore, XSuSE_NVidia-2.0 has been released, which offers full hardware
acceleration for Riva128 based cards. With this server Riva128 based cards
are now among the fastest cards supported with free X servers.

Our special thanks goes to David McKay who almost single handedly developed
this great server.

For both new XSuSE servers please visit http://www.suse.de/XSuSE/XSuSE_E.html.

For all questions and support concerning these servers please do NOT contact
XFree86 but send email to x@suse.de instead.

Just to avoid wrong and unnecessary rumors:

- - these servers are freely available under basically the same copyright as
  XFree86.
- - these servers are based on XFree86-3.3.1 and code from individual authors;
  they are released on request and with permission of the authors and
  The XFree86 Project, Inc.
- - These servers will be part of the next public release of XFree86
- - S.u.S.E. is not trying to take over development of free X servers
  from The XFree86 Project, Inc., nor is The XFree86 Project, Inc.,
  disapearing. Quite the opposite is true. The XFree86 Project is actively
  working on a new public release that is scheduled for the first quarter
  of 1998.

Any questions regarding XSuSE servers and the relationship between XSuSE and
XFree86 should be directed at x@suse.de

	Dirk
