The DVD/CD-ROM for my 770 arrived yesterday. I went through all the
installation instructions, installing the new MPEG features, DVD Region
Code, and DVD Movie Program. However, I have been unable to get a DVD
movie to play. Currently, I'm borrowing the DVD Demonstration Disk from
my video store. This contains snippets from several movies.
Has anyone else with a 770 had luck playing DVD movies?
The only success I've had is playing snippets in so-called MPEG mode.
The DVD movie program, SoftDVD, has two modes: MPEG mode and DVD mode.
MPEG mode is for playing files as opposed to DVD disks. If I attempt to
play in DVD mode I get an error message saying that it can't find the
drive or there is no disk in the drive. However, if I go into MPEG
mode, I can open up the DVD disk (D:) and select .VOB files, and they
seem to play fine. Something sounds wrong.
Has anyone had better luck?
