Redhat 5.0/X on Thinkpad 701C.

Hi, all.  I've got a problem that could become important: on my
girlfriend's computer, I've installed Redhat 5.0.  Works fine, including
X.  EXCEPT if I try to execute X applications from other systems.

1)  It's not xhost + or my DISPLAY variable, as (so far) two
    X applications DO work: xsnow and xlogo.
2)  It's not my windows manager, as I've kicked off xinit with
    NO windows manager, and had the same problem.
3)  I don't _think_ it's my video driver, but I'm not sure...

Any ideas out there?  I realize that this is fairly esoteric, but, after
all, this mailing list is as close a forum as I can think of (I've never
heard of a Linux 5.0 list for owners of 701C's, but if I do, I'll be sure
to try there, too...)

P.S.  Previous versions and flavors of Linux have worked fine on our
701C's, and 5.0 works fine on the desktops I've installed it on.  So it
really does seem to be a 5.0-cum-701C issue.  *sigh*
