Re: (screen-) size... (was 770 price cut)

Some Windows software (and much of the DOS software I use) won't let you change
the font size; this makes it hard to use at higher resolutions. For this reaso
I personally hope that 800x600 or lower res screens stay around for a while.

Software that does not work nicely with a 90 pixel/inch screen (generally
this is considered the ideal value) is broken. if you have broken software
you no doubt need broken hardware to use it :-)

clear plastic? Then the backlight can be supplemented by the ambient light,

But that's the point, you can sit out on your deck with a 770. It is the
first of the TP's for which this is true. I often do so, and I never could
before!

As for bloated software, it all depends what you are doing, I routinely
compile hundreds of thousands of lines of code (a full compiler), and it
is nice not to wait all day for such a compilation to complete.

As I say, different strokes ...

I must say that I do not find the 770 to be significantly heavier than any
of the previous notebooks (including several thinkpads) that I have used,
and considering its better battery life, its travel weight is lower, since
I need to carry fewer extra batteries.

I think a big issue is whether you are carrying a machine around with you
all day, say in your briefcase. I don't do that at all, but if I did,
nothing heavier than a Libretto would seem acceptable!
