Zip Drive Peculiarity

I have two parallel port zip drives, one attached to my desktop, one
that floats between my TP560 and my husband's.  I use zip for backup and
sneakernet on both my machines.

When I went to load some data from the zip to my TP560, it said the disk
was unformatted.  I walked it back to the zipdrive on the desktop, and,
indeed the data was there.  I tested a few more disks; same thing.

Then I switched the zip drives, and still the TP560 did not see a
formatted disk with data on it.

What am I missing here?
