I also feared what the TV output would look like after previous experience
with the poor quality from my 760ED. When I hooked the 770 up for the first
time and started a DVD movie, I couldn't believe how great the picture
quality was. I am not sure how it stands up to a standalone DVD player
(since I have never seen one), but I can bet there is probably no difference
at all, or at least negligible to most eyes. This was using the composite
output with a cheap RCA cable, so I can imagine that the S-video would be
even better. You won't be disappointed in the picture quality at all.

There is an output on the enhanced video adapter for AC-3, but it requires
an optional connector cable to access it. I believe that it uses the same
connector that is supplied with the unit for video output and input, and you
use the RCA audio out to feed your sound system.
