I have the same thing, and eventually will do what you're doing. While thinking about it,
I ran across Timothy Sipples' Warped ThinkPad page, http://www.secant.com/sipple
(or sipples), and it has a REXX script for creating the 701's hibernation file on HPFS,
and I think a while back on the list, someone also tried converting it to NTFS.
