The only thing you'll need to install Win95 from
scratch on a 365XD is:
1) The MS-DOS CDROM drivers available from IBM
site
2) Choose to have Win95 NOT detect your hardware and then
uncheck the video, network, audio and PCMCIA devices
3) activate PCMCIA from Control Panel once all is
installed
4) Remove MSDOC CDROM drivers once Win95 is installed, Win95
will have its own 32bit drivers that recognize the 365XD drive
5) ONLY THEN install audio. video and other drivers. You are
often asked for the CDROM thru those installs and if you do it before, the CD
will be unavailable.
I have gone thru 5 fresh installs. starting to get
it!
I have a broken floppy drive on a
365XD. I'm wondering, instead of spending $200 on a new drive if I
could use one of the new 3m Imation 120MB superdisks to boot my machine. In
other words, if attached to the parallel port, what do I have to change to
get the machine to boot from there rather than the A: drive
port.
The other question - if the above doesn't work - Does
anybody have a boot disk with cd rom drivers/config.sys/etc.. for the
365XD so I can fresh intall from the CDrom???
Thanks
