What backup solution are you trying to use?  Also, that's unusual that serial and
parallel would be blanked out.

 System has a Panasonic SCSI PC card for CD-Rom

So you're trying to install by CD-ROM or floppy?  I installled Warp 4 by floppy
(and had to allocate 6 hours to do so).

Let me look at my config.sys on my ThinkPad and cut out a line for you - 
I've got my Home & Away set to COM3, IRQ11 so I can use the internal
modem for faxes and the DB9 serial port for diagnostics.

Did you get PCMCIA and video setup okay?
