Hello!
I recently purchased my first laptop, a refurbished Thinkpad 360PE
(2620-B0G). It has 20 megs RAM and a 540 MB hard drive (single FAT
partition). I installed OS/2 Warp 3.0 and have a dual boot with either
OS/2, or PCDOS 6.3/Win3.1/Windows for Pen 1.0. Windows for Pen 1.0 is
really nice. I had Win95 with Pen Services 2.0 installed for a while, but
I think that 1.0 is better, mainly due to the presence of editing strokes.
Of course, the fact that Win95 runs more slowly (but not too badly) on the
old 486 processor doesn't help 2.0 any. I had never tried OS/2 before,
and I am pretty impressed with how well it handles Win3.1 apps. I run a
lot of DOS applications, so I decided to try OS/2 to run them both. So
far it's doing well except for one problem... (see below).
A request and some questions:
* I originally had PCDOS 7.0 preinstalled, but my disk factory image for
disk 5 was trashed. Could someone please email me a zipped copy?
* I can't get PCMCIA storage devices (a Maxtor 105 MB HD and a
Sandisk 20 MB ATA flash card) to work in either Windows or OS/2. The Easy
Playing software correctly identifies both cards, but they always come up
as Not Ready. Any suggestions?
* In order to get Windows for Pen to work, I have to have a second Windows
installation outside of WinOS2. When I installed Win for Pen under
WinOS2, I get an error saying that the driver listed in the "display="
line of SYSTEM.INI does not support Windows for Pen. Has anyone been
succesful in running Win for Pen under WinOS2? With a relatively small
HD, it seems like such a waste to have to have two installations of
Windows.
Thanks for any help!

P. S. The only other computer I own (except for some Commodore 8-bits from
my youth) is an HP 200LX DOS palmtop. I guess my taste for computers runs
toward the small side. :)
