I think that's with the CD Drive in.
Stripped to its skivvies, the way a 560 *always* is, it's 4.9 lbs. .8
lbs. more than a 560. And an inch deeper as well as .2" thicker.

560.
I don't think it ever was. Really, I see it as a replacement for the
770's--and nearly everything below it. The only reason now to buy a
bigger, thicker, heavier 770 is if you need the hardware MPEG built-in, the
funny video ports, or absolutely need the higher capacity of the thicker
hard drives.
That's not to say the super-high-end machines won't continue to exist
(there are people that want one), but this will eat a significant bite from
that market.
>BTW, I just ran across complete specs and a suite of photos for the Sony
Vaio 505 (cf http://www.jpd.com/vaio505.htm ). While I'm leery of Sony
computer products, and don't like touchpads, I could be seriously persuaded
to buy one of these when they're finally 'officially' for sale here!
After my recent NEC Versa experience, I've learned my lesson. The Versa
5000 series is a great machine...but I've learned that I hate
touchpads--period. I'll never buy another machine with a touchpad. I
don't care how neato it is.
But if its *really* thin & light you want, take a look at the HP Sojourn.
.7" thick, something like 3 lbs. and a hefty price tag.
