Hi all
Can anyone suggest what's going wrong here and what the cure is?
Machine is 760CD 90Mhz 40MB, latest bios and other software from IBM web
site, Win95 upgraded to OSR1. Mwave internal modem is disabled so I can
use a PC Card GSM modem (COM1) and the rear serial port (COM2) without
resource conflicts.
The PC Card modem is an Option International GSM-only Data/Fax/SMS PC
Card modem. The modem works fine but the machine usually sees it as new
hardware although the drivers are already installed. When the card is
in card slot 1 (the top one) the machine almost always recognises it as
new hardware when the machine is booted. The same happens if the card
is inserted into slot 1 with Windows running. The same happens with the
card in slot 2 on booting or inserted with Windows running but much less
frequently. If I let it go through the new hardware instal routine it
adds another modem to the list in Settings/Control Panel/Modems. It
makes no difference whether or not the mobile phone is attached to the
modem and switch on.
TIA
