Well, I got curious about how much that 560 CD-ROM really weighs up and
couldn't find the info on IBM's roving web site. But my boss has one, so I
got it and its battery pack and took them to the mail room and got them
weighed. I didn't want to have to crawl around behind her desk to get the
CD-ROM's AC Adapter and figured it and the battery pack would weigh about
the same.
The 560 CD-ROM alone weighs - 15.7 oz.
With its battery pack (ie - travel weight), it weighs a hefty 1 lb 5.3 oz!
So the travel weight of the 12.1" TFT 560X plus CD-ROM plus CD-ROM power
source (battery pack or AC Adapter is:
4.1 + 1.33 = 5.43 lbs plus the 560's AC Adapter
Compared to the travel weight of the 13.3" TFT 600 plus internal CD-ROM of:
5.5 lbs plus the 600's AC Adapter
Hmmm... 1-year warranty vs 3-year warranty, bigger screen, internal CD-ROM
and virtually the same travel weight. Am I missing something here? Why
would anyone buy the 560 now?
